SEMINAR ON INTERFAITH DIALOGUE SET FOR UZ

SECRETARIAT FOR INTERFAITH DIALOGUE AMONG RELIGIONS IN ZIMBABWE

SEMINAR ON INTERFAITH DIALOGUE SET FOR UZ The Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in collaboration with the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ), Committee on Dialogue Among Religions and the Department of Religious Studies, Classics and Philosophy at the University of Zimbabwe, has organized a one day seminar on Interfaith Dialogue to be hosted by the University of Zimbabwe on the 5th of November 2011.The Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Joice Mujuru, is expected to officially open the seminar to be held under the theme:FOSTERING PEACE AND DIGNITY IN DIVINE RELIGIONS. Among the dignitaries expected to attend the seminar include His Excellency the Ambassador of the I.R.Iran, Mr Pournajaf, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe, Professor Levy Nyagura, Head of the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the I.R.Iran, Mr Assadi, Director of Fatima Zahra (AS) College, Sheikh Makwinja and the President of the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe, Bishop Ndanga. The seminar seeks, inter alia, to elaborate on the role of religion in enhancing peace. Papers to be presented shall focus on the relevance of religious faiths in fostering dialogue, conflict mitigation co-existence of religions , among others. A total of 300 participants, comprising members of the clergy from both Islam and Christianity, university students and lectures , government officials and leaders of church organizations are expected to attend the seminar.
